Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) Q & A

What is Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT)?

Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy is a simple and non-invasive procedure that provides the body with higher than normal oxygen levels. HBOT is specialized therapy that uses an increase in atmospheric pressure to allow the body to incorporate more oxygen into blood cells, blood plasma and other body fluids.

The healing process occurs when a severely compromised tissue in the body begins to receive a healing dose of oxygen. This process has physiologic benefits for the body including: Improved energy levels, regenerate tissue, reduce inflammation, reduce pain, boost the immune system and repair damaged tissues.

Is it safe?

Yes! This therapy is non-invasive, non-pharmaceutical and there are no dangerous side-effects reported.

How long does a session last?

Generally, HBOT is limited to 60-90 minutes per session

How many sessions do I need?

Common protocol to achieve physiological benefits is called the “40 hour hyperbaric protocol”. Typically, 5 consecutive days are recommended, with a 2 day rest period. With this protocol, a full 40 hours of HBOT can be accomplished in about 2 months.
