On October 21, 2007...the first day of the Buckweed fires, we had gusts of winds up to 70+MPH. I was on my way to a scrapbooking event and opened my garage to get out my scrapbooking gear. When the door opened, 3 closet doors that I was storing in my garage fell onto the ground. Thank goodness I was not in the way of those doors! I started to pick each one up, one by one. I picked up the first door...it was in place. I picked up the second door...it was now in place. I noticed that the wind might grab them and throw them back down, so I repositioned them and went down for the third door when the other 2 doors came crashing down on my neck and right shoulder. I could not move. I felt paralized and like my neck was broken. It was not, but the doors coming down on my at 70 MPH had caused an injury that would certainly be an issue for the rest of my life. I was in so much pain that I could not pick up my 4 year old son. I could not drive safely as I couldn't turn my neck to see in blind spots, but had to do it anyway as I have a family household to run. I could no longer scrapbook or carry anything (like a purse) over just a few pounds. I cried all the time and could not even get my own head up off my pillow, I had to have help. I felt like I would be crippled for the rest of my life and started to become depressed. The day after my injury I went straight to Dr. G's office. I was in such terrible pain and in the past, I have sought out the care of other Chiropractors...even a cousin in the SFV who didn't charge me anything. But Dr. G is special. I saw her everyday for sometime and she put together a plan of action rather than just expecting me to come in whenever. I met Dr. Griffin at the Kid's Expo at Golden Valley High School last year and I knew that she would be a perfect match for me. I can walk around without pain now, but do have reacurring pain every once in a while. It especially flairs up when I don't come on a regular basis for maintenance.
